Mercury from U.S. wildfires

U.S. forest fires emit nearly as much atmospheric mercury as industrial sources.


On the basis of this and other recent studies on the role of fires in mercury emissions, the UN Environment Programme is planning to include fires as a source of atmospheric mercury in its 2009 global mercury report.
