Resumo
Este trabalho é desenvolvido com base nos estudos sobre cidades
médias tendo como elemento norteador as novas relações de produção que se
instalam no campo a partir da década de 1970 e que repercutem no processo de
redefinição socioespacial na região de Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul (Brasil). A
análise está centrada na presença de estabelecimentos comerciais e de serviços e em como estes se redefinem
socioespacialmente, articulando uma significativa presença de atividades do
setor agrícola que não está apenas na esfera particular da circulação do
capital, mas também na distribuição e no consumo. Isso leva a comprovar que a
atual complexidade socioespacial necessita de uma superação da contradição
cidade-campo, requerendo um esforço metodológico em outro patamar.

Abstract
In order to understand the developed on basis of the studies on middle cities taking as a
principal element the new relations of production that are developing in the
rural areas since the 1970s and have direct repercussions in the
redefinition of the social and spatial patterns in the region of Dourados, Mato
Grosso do Sul (Brazil). The analysis focuses on the
presence of commercial establishments and services and in as their social and spatial redefinition, include a significant presence
of the agricultural sector, not just in the specific sphere of capital
investment and circulation but also in the distribution and consumption sectors.
This leads to prove that the current social and spatial complexity requires the
overcoming of the pervading contradiction between rural and urban spaces,
requiring a methodological effort on a higher
level.
