3W, VIETNAM (IOTA Activity).  
Tuesday December 7 through December 29  
Tab Masa, JA7GAX, is expected to be active here this week and will activate several Vietnamese islands over the next few weeks. His activity will begin as 3W2GAX from Ho Chi Minh City starting December 7th. On December 9th, he will be active as 3W2GAX/C from Con Son Island (AS-130). He'll head back to Ho Chi Minh City on December 16th. On December 19th, look for him to be active as 3W2GAX/4 or possibly 3W2GAX/p from Phu Quoc (AS-128). Masa will return back to Ho Chi Minh City to be active one more time between December 27-29th. QSL via JA7GAX, direct only.
YA, AFGHANISTAN. 
Tuesday December 7 through January 5, 2005  
Tab Rene, DL2JRM, is expected to become active as YA7X between December 7th and January 5th. Activity will probably be on 160-10 meters CW/SSB. QSL via DL1JJI.
HG5, HUNGARY (Special Prefix).  
Friday December 10 through January 31, 2005  
Tab Just a reminder that Tibor, HG4I, will be using the special callsign HG5HNY between December 10th and January 31st. The special event callsign, HG05HNY, stands for: The 05 as a call area is the last two numbers of newcoming year and the HNY suffix is the abbreviation of the phrase "Happy New Year". Activity will be on all HF bands (including the WARC bands) on the following modes: CW, RTTY, BPSK, SSB. He will try to take a part in all HF contests during the activity period. The stations are valid as a separate multiplier in the HA-HNY activity contest. PJ4, BONAIRE. 
Saturday December 11 through December 16  
Tab Fred/WW4LL and John/K4BAI will be active as PJ4Z during the ARRL 10 Meter Contest December 11-12th. They will be active as PJ4/WW4LL and PJ4/K4BAI on both SSB and CW beginning December 8th through December 15th. QSL both via the Bureau and/or K4BAI.
P5, NORTH KOREA 
Monday December 20 through December 31  
Tab There is a Web page reporting that Mark, OH5XL, will try to activate North Korea during Christmas. The Elstar Web page also states the following details: "Problem is money. We wish support and donation to Mark for his trip. Permission will be for CW and SSB. Operation mainly on CW. Using AEA PK-232DSP, Alinco DX-70TH and Smart Tuner. ELSTAR Oy, Ltd supports on USD 1000, - We wish your firm could do the same. Full three day operation takes at least USD 5000 more. Antennas: Smart GP, Smart Qwiere, all from ELSTAR. If Mark is not in the Air, the donation will be used for other trip during 2005. At least Mark will be there. Permission is not sure yet. All support helps." ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. 
Friday December 24 through December 30  
Tab Mark, VK2GND, will be active as ZK1GND between December 24-30th, from Rarotonga Island (OC-013) in the South Cook Islands. He will be mostly on 14195 kHz and 14273 kHz. QSL via VK2GND.

ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. Look for Victor, ZK1CG, on the lower bands. He states that he will try to stay up until 1200z. He will check 1840 kHz +/- between 1000-1015z. He also states that he has been hearing G and EI stations at around 0600z on 3799.5 kHz each night.

4X, ISRAEL  
Friday December 24 through December 26 Masada Castle 
Tab Jan 4X1VF, Ilya 4Z1UF, Shalom 4Z4BS, Mark 4Z4KX, Ruslan 4Z5LA and Yuli 4X6HP will operate first time after 16 Years from the famous Historical site - MASADA castle near the Dead Sea.

Starting Friday, Dec 24 1000Z till Sunday, Dec 26 1000Z.

We shall operate two complete stations CW & SSB 80 - 10M, using a special call 4XMS.

5T, MAURITANIA. 
Sunday December 26 through January 9, 2005  
Tab Yves/F6GDC, Pierre/F6CQX and Eric/F5SSM will be active as 5T5DY (the previous callsign for Yves in 1971-1977) from December 26th to January 9th. Their first week will be from Nouakchott, Atar and Tergit. During the second week, look for Yves to spent 3 days on Banc d'Arguin (IOTA AF-050). They will have a TS-50 with vertical and dipoles. Activity will be on 40-10 meters on SSB and CW (on request). QSL via F6GDC.

KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS 
Friday January 7 through January 14  
Tab NJDXA members Ann/W2AZK and Brian/KF2HC will sign homecall/KP2 from the island of St. Croix, USVI, January 7-14th. Look for them on 160-6 meters SSB and CW with a special emphasis on the WARC bands as conditions permit. QSL to their home calls direct or via the bureau.
3G, EASTER ISLAND. 
Saturday January 8 through January 18  
Tab A group of operators from Norway and one operator from Denmark (former S9LA-team of 2002) will be active from here January 8-18th in 2005. The callsigns for the operation will be 3G0YP (SSB) and 3GYM (CW/Digi-modes). Activity will be on 160-10 meters. VE2, CANADA  
Thursday January 13 through January 19 (Zone 2).  
Tab Vladimir/VE3JM and Nikola/VE3EY will be active as VE2/homecall from Sept Iles, Quebec, which is located in CQ Zone 2, between January 13-19th. Their main focus will be on the lower bands. They will use verticals for 80/160 meters. QSL via their home callsigns.

KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY 
Tuesday January 18 through January 26  
Tab Tip, N4SIA (KG4AS), informs OPDX that he and 3 other operators will be active from here beginning January 18th for 8 days. Tip states that he will be active on CW/SSB and 6 meters. More info is forthcoming.
KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY (Update).  
Tuesday January 18 through January 25  
Tab Operators Jose/N4BBA, Tip/N4SIA and two others will be heading down to KG4-land, January 18-25th. Callsigns will be KG4SB (QSL to N4BAA) and KG4AS (QSL to N4SIA). Two other callsigns will follow for the other operators. They will have up to three radios going at a time, and they will be concentrating on CW/RTTY/DIGITAL on all bands 160-6 meters. There are no amplifiers available at the club station as this was being written, so barefoot rigs will have to do the trick for now. 3Y, PETER I ISLAND. 
Thursday January 20 through February 5  
Tab 3Y, PETER I ISLAND (Update). A multi-national team of 21 operators is now complete for the 2005 January/February 3Y0X DXpedition. The operators are: F2JD, HB9AHL, HB9BHW, KIR, K4UEE, K3NA, K4SV, K5AB, K9SG, LA6VM, N2WB, N4GRN, N6OX, NK7C, NP4IW, OH2BH, OH2PM, PA5M, UA3AB, VK4GL and WRUN. Alternates are in place for any unexpected cancellations. They plan to operate for two full weeks with nine stations on the air 24 hours a day. Most members of the team will meet in Atlanta, GA, between September 23-26th. This is a serious meeting to discuss details of the operation which include practice shelter set-up, equipment checks and seminars (such as safety, search and rescue, emergencies and medical care, logging, propagation, equipment operation, dietary and food, environmental concerns, and operating Techniques). The voyage to Peter I Island will start from Punta Arenas on January 14th. The voyage to Peter I Island will take 6 to 7 days. The exact landing date will depend on weather. Team 3YX Announces Major NCDXF Sponsorship Grant). From Chicago, on September 18th, the 2005 Peter I (3Y0X) DXpedition Team announced that it has been awarded a major sponsorship grant by the Northern California DX Foundation, Inc. (NCDXF) [see NCDXF below]. The press release states, "A multinational team of twenty operators and one explorer, led by Antarctic DXpedition veterans Ralph Fedor, K0IR, and Bob Allphin, K4UEE, will activate Peter I Island between 14 January and 10 February, 2005. Other team members come from France, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, Finland, Australia, The Netherlands and the United States, and possess significant DXpedition and Antarctic experience. The Chilean registered vessel Antarctic Dream, and its dedicated helicopter, will be supporting the group for their entire journey. 'This DXpedition is funded principally by the contributions of its twenty-one members plus this very generous grant by the Northern California DX Foundation,' said Bob Allphin, K4UEE, co-leader of the DXpedition. However, because of the extraordinary cost of chartering the Antarctic Dream to travel safely to and from this remote location, additional assistance is still being sought from the world-wide DX community." Tab The Contest Club Finland (CCF) and the OH DX Foundation (OHDXF) have announced and are inviting you to attend their 10th annual Contester/DXer meeting to be held aboard the Viking Line m/s "Gabriella" on January 21-23rd. The ship will leave from Finland (OH) and travel to the Aland Islands (OH) to Sweden (SM) and then back the Aland Islands (OH) and return to Finland. There is only a limited number of cabins availabe. Please notice that they have cabins from A to C-class, all with the same price. People booking their cruise first will get the best cabins. Tab Wojtek, SP8MI, will use the special Polish callsign HF8IARU, from January 25th through March 6th. Activity will be on the HF bands, CW and possibly more modes. QSL via SP8MI. No details or reasons were provided for this special activity.

Thursday January 27 through February 13  
Tab Thomas, KCW, will be active as TO0O from January 27th to February 13th. Look for him to be active in the CQ WW 160m CW Contest (January 29-30th) as a Single-Op/High-Power entry. QSL direct to KCW (w/SASE or 1 USD).
ZK1, NORTH AND SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. 
Monday January 31 through March 3  
Tab Magnus, SM6WET, informs OPDX that he and a team of operators will be active as ZK1WET, ZK1XMY, ZK1SDE and ZK1SDZ from North and South Cook Islands as follows:

Aitutaki Island (South Cook) - January 31st to February 17th

Manihiki Atoll (North Cook) - February 17-24th

Aitutaki Island (South Cook) - February 24th to March 3rd

The DXpedition will concentrate mostly on 17 and 20 meters, although there will be activity on 160-10 meters. Operations will be mostly SSB, but ZK1WET will be active on CW and RTTY. They will have monoband yagis for 10/17/20 meters and verticals for the other bands. Also, look for ZK1WET to be active in the CQWW RTTY WPX Contest. They plan on having a double sided QSL card printed for each station. Do not QSL via the Bureau. QSLing is preferred via M3SDE direct.

6O, SOMALIA.  
Thursday February 3 through February 17  
Tab Silvano, I2YSB, informs OPDX that operators Andrea/IK1PMR, Marcello/IK2DIA, Adriano/IK2GNW, Giuseppe/IK2WXV, Riccardo/IZ5BRW and himself will be active from Galkacyo in the autonomous area Puntland between February 3-17th, 2005. The callsigns to be used are: 6OG for SSB (QSL Manager IK2GNW) and 6OCW for CW/RTTY (QSL Manager I2YSB). The Bureau Manager is M5AAV. They will have 2 stations active on all the frequencies. Silvano states, "One of the main aims of this DXpedition is to bring ham equipment to the Somali radio amateurs, fostering in a concrete way the development of amateur radio in the country. To this end, we shall donate yagi antennas, verticals, dipoles, HF and VHF/UHF tranceivers, power supplies, a laptop, coax and accessories for the operation of one or two stations at the local radio club. We are investing all our efforts to make such a difficult and exotic country regularly active on the bands, so as to provide all hams worldwide a better possibility to get a rare new one." Donations towards the expenses of the DXpedition and helping in the procurement of the equipment to be donated are highly welcome. From Singapore, on September 19th, the Microlite Penguins DXpedition Team announced that it has been awarded an exclusive sponsorship granted by the Northern California DX Foundation, Inc. (NCDXF) [see NCDXF below], thus enabling the planned 2005 DXpedition to the Kerguelen Islands (FT/X). The press release states: "A multinational team of twelve highly experienced operators from France, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, Singapore, South Africa and the United States will activate Kerguelen on the HF bands between 15 March and 02 April, 2005. The New Zealand registered vessel Braveheart, used during the 2002 Microlite DXpedition to South Georgia (VP8GEO) and South Sandwich (VP8THU), will again be supporting the group for their entire 30-day journey. 'This DXpedition is funded entirely by the twelve team members and a generous and exclusive grant by the Northern California DX Foundation,' said James Brooks, 9V1YC, DXpedition Team Leader. 'There are no other club, foundation, individual, manufacturer or QSL sponsors.' Additional details regarding the Kerguelen Islands DXpedition will be released in the coming weeks."
