4S7, SRI LANKA (Ham in need!). Rohan, 4S7RO, is urgently wanting
someone to scan the wiring diagram of a TS-850S for the page that
contains the RF Board X44-320-00. He has a manual for it but has left it in
Jamaica and is now back in Sri Lanka for a few months of R+R... If
someone has an 850S and has the capability to scan the necessary diagram
page, please send it to Rohan. He would be very grateful. His E-mail

9A,
CROATIAN ISLANDS (Hungarian IOTA/Contest Activity)....... Feco,
HA8KW, will be active as 9A/HA8KW from the Island of Rab (IOTA
EU-136, IOCA CI-096), July 19-26th. He will participate in IOTA
Contest (Low Power, 12-hour). After his activity from the
Island of Rab, he will activate the Island of Brac (IOTA EU-016,
IOCA CI-010) from July 26th to August 2nd. After August 2nd,
Feco will go to Pag Island (EU-170, IOCA-082). Activity from all
locations will be on 30-10 meters. QSL via his home callsign
either direct or through the bureau.
Look for Laci/HA6NL to
be active as 9A6NL and Zsolt/HA6PS, Tibor/HA6ZV, Al/HA7JJS
to be active as 9A/homecall, from the QTH of Branko/9A2ZD at
Maly Pasman, Pasman Island (IOTA: EU-170, IOCA: CI-085) between
July 20-30th (IOTA Contest included). They will build up a
portable contest station with Yagis, TEN-TEC radios and so
on. QSL via their home callsigns either direct or through the
bureau. They are expected to do some 2 meters operations
also.
Aniko/HA5TAA (XYL) and Feri/HA5AAZ have plans to
activate different Croatian islands between July 19th and August
1st. They will use 9A/homecall from the IOTA EU-016 group, near
Rogoznice, including CI-171, CI-187 and CI-193 for IOCA. QSL via
their home callsigns either direct or through the
bureau.
C3, ANDORRA. Reports indicate that the hams in C3-land are now
authorized to use 6 meters. Johan, ON4IQ, reports that Jordi, C31JI, near
Andorra La Vella, has become active. Also, Fred, C31HK, is still active
on the bands but keeps a low profile and prefers to listen a
lot.
CFT PARTY POSTPONED. To avoid interferences with the Scandinavian
Activity Contest (CW) and the 2004 High Speed Telegraphy Championship,
the first EUCW Belgian Society CFT (Club Francophone de Telegraphie)
Party which was scheduled for September 19th has been postponed. This Party
is still on the agenda, and the new date will be published in the near
future.
CN, MOROCCO. Look for Andre, HB9HLM, to be active again this week
as CN2DX until August 8th. Activity will be on 6 and 2 meters,
possibly from either grid IM63 or other grid locators. QSL via his home
callsign.
CT3, MADEIRA. Operators EA2RU, EA2BXV and EA2RY will
heading to this island of the Atlantic September 20-30th, to participate in
the 2004 CQ WW RTTY Contest as CT9R. Activity will be on 80-10 meters with
100w and wire antennas. They will be on SSB, but operations will be
mainly on the Digital modes. QSL via the Bureau or direct to EA2RY. Visit

FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON ISLANDS. Pete, NN9K, will be on
Miquelon Island, September 10-18th. He will use the callsign FP/NN9K. Pete
states, "My operating goal is to make FP as available as possible on
30-meters especially for Asia and the Pacific Rim amateurs. This will be a CW
only expedition and although the plan is to spend as much time as
possible on 30-meters I may be found on other bands as well." For more

FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON ISLANDS (Update to OPDX.666). Due to
numerous requests, the FP/VE7SV team going to Miquelon Island (NA-032)
between October 23rd to November 2nd have added the RTTY, PSK31 and

HA, HUNGARY (Update to OPDX.667). It seems Nilay (XYL), TA3YJ,
will be joining Berkin, TA3J, to operate from different locations in
Hungary, and will sign HA(?)/TA3YJ between July 18-21st. Look for activity
on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10, 6 and 2 meters (including the WARC bands)
on SSB and FM. QSL via her home callsign, direct (only SASE and 1 IRC, no
green stamps please) or by the bureau. SWL QSL cards are
OK.
HB0,LIECHTENSTEIN. Geza/HA4DX will operate from Masescha (1350m
ASL) as HB0/HA4XG between August 28th and September 4th. He will be
active on 30-10 meters (CW, SSB) with GP antennas and on 2 meters with a
8 element Yagi and also on WSJT. QSL via their home callsign either direct

NEWS................... AF-018. Operators IK2JUB, IZ2ABI,
IZ2ABZ, IW2HAJ and IH9GPI
will activate
IH9/IQ2CJ from Pantelleria Island during the
RSGB IOTA
Contest (July 24-25th) as a Multi-Op entry. QSL
via the

AF-018. Operator IT9BLB and an international
team will be active
as IH9P from
Pantelleria Island (IIA: TP01, WAIP: TP and
ITU Zone: 37)
during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October
30-31st) as a
Multi-Single entry. This is another Tikirriki
Contest Club's
Multi/Op. operation. QSL via KR7X.
AS-017. Look for JH1MUK
to be active as JH1MUK/6 from Ie
Island
(JIIA-017-011) on July 22nd and then from Iheya
Island
(JIIA-017-012) on July 23-24th. QSL to this home

AS-079. Seiji, JH6RTO, will
sign JH6RTO/6 from Miyako Island on
July 16-20th,
using his IC-706 and R7000. Activity will be on
40-6 meters,

AS-147. Takeshi, JI3DST,
will be active as JI3DST/8 from
Okushiri Island
from about 0700z on July 24th through about 0000z
on July 27th. He
is expected to be active during the IOTA
Contest. QSL

EU-064. Jerome, F5ASD, will be
active from Noirmoutier Island (AT
020) between
August 2-15th. Activity will be on SSB for the
most part, and
on 80-2 meters. QSL to his home callsign,
either direct
(SASE + 1 IRC or 1 USD for Europe; 2 USD outside
of Europe) or
via the French REF Bureau.
SA-045. Operators PQ8KGB, PQ8VA
and PT7BI will activate Maraca
Island (DIB
39) as ZX8M from July 21-25th. Activity will be on
all bands CW/SSB
(possibly RTTY). QSL via PT7BI. The

IOTA SPECIAL EVENT OPERATION. To celebrate the 2004 Olympic Games
in Athens, look for a group of Greek amateurs to be active as SY2004KF
now through September 15th, from Kefalonia Island (IOTA EU-052) in the
Ionian Sea. Operators mentioned are: SV1BJW (Vasilis or Bill), SV8CKJ
(Panayiotis) and assisted by SV1DPI (Costas) and SV1CIB (Dimitris).
Activity will be on 160-10 meters (including the WARC bands) and probably
some 6 meters. Modes will be: mostly CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. Antennas are:
Long wires, Windoms, G5RVees, Verticals, Tribander yagis and Quads. Power
is be within legal Greek State limits. Simultaneous multiband operation
is expected. The CW operators are expected to transmit as : SY2004KF or
SY2TT4KF or SY04KF. The recommended split frequencies are 1-5 kHz UP on the
CW mode. The recommended split frequencies are 5-10 kHz UP on the SSB
mode. Listen for QSL instructions. QSL can be either by the operator's
instructions or via SV1BJW, by the Bureau or the address at QRZ.com (provided
that the other operator encloses a SAE + IRC or equivalent for the postal
fee).
J45, DODECANESE. Anton, PA7DX, informs OPDX that he will be on
his first "DXpedition" on his own for the 2004 IOTA Contest (He was on
Malta as 9H3UJ with a group some years ago.), and states this is "so very
exciting". Look for him to be active as J45C from Kos Island
(EU-001).
OJ0J, MARKET REEF (Party at Sea Wrap-up!). A press release from
Martti, OH2BH (via Jarmo, OH2BN), states: "The weather was calm this
morning (Monday, July 5th) and the party at OJ0J had no difficulty
departing Market Reef. They have now returned safely to Aland Islands. Due to
bad weather, dipole radiators had to be used most of the time while a
beam was hoisted only on the last day of operations. Total time on the
reef was 84 hours, and 12,414 QSOs were made with two radios, resulting
in 150 QSOs per hour for the entire stay. Only 30, 40, 20 and 17M
bands were activated. QSL via OH0RJ."

NEWS........................ Laci/HA0HW (CTC 264) and Tomi/HA4DX (CTC
192) were active as 9A/HA0HW and 9A/HA4DX from Silo, Krk Island, in
the North Adriatic (IOTA: EU-136, IOCA: CI-046) between July
2-12th. This was a family holiday. QSL via their home callsigns either
direct (QRZ.com) or through the HA bureau.
9K2ZZ ON LOTW! Ray,
W8CNL, has uploaded all 253,600 plus contacts with 9K2ZZ to the
"Logbook of The World" (LoTW). He states, "I am very sure there
will be some missing QSOs due to broken calls, etc. If you are one
that needs the card, please send a SASE or SAE and postage, with all
the details you can come up with and I will try every means to
find you in the logs."
QSL B4HQ via BA4RD (P.O.Box
538 Nanjing, China). This activity was by the Chinese Radio Sports
Association (CRSA)> They had 5 stations set up for the IARU HF
World Championship, and all the stations were located in
Nanjing.
Operators JA4BBP/4 and JA4TI/4 were expected to be active
from Mu Island (AS-117 and JIIA AS-117-073) (QTH Okayama) over the
past weekend. QSL to their home callsign either direct or via the
JARL bureau.
Operators JE4TST/4,JE4WIP/4 and JE4QIG/4 were
expected to be active from Mutsure Island (AS-117) (QTH Yamaguchi)
over the past weekend. QSL to their home callsign either direct or via
the JARL bureau.
Operators JA5BEX/5 and JA5BQX/5 were to be active
from Ibuki Island (AS-076) (QTH Kagawa) over the past weekend. QSL to
their home callsigns either direct or via the JARL
bureau.

was during the IARU HF World Championship Contest as the official
station of the Foroyskir Radioamatorar [FRA].
QSL P40HQ
via Mario, I2MQP. Activity was during last weekend's IARU Contest.
Jacobo (Jacky), P43P, states that since Aruba is celebrating its 50th
Carnival this year, they will be printing full color conmemorative QSL
cards that are sure to become collector's items. He also mentions that
a special P40HQ team T-Shirt and a small surprise sponsored by ACOM
will be given to the first Single Op or Multi Single station to
work them on 6 bands (SSB, CW or mixed).
The special callsign
YT80HQ commemorating 80 years of ham activity in Serbia and Montenegro
was active over the past weekend during the IARU HF Championship
as a SCG Multiplier. Special YT80HQ QSL cards confirming all

SI9, SWEDEN (Special Event). Look for SI9AM to be active
now and then, July 17-19th (Open House) on HF CW/SSB. SI9AM is located close
to the King Chulalongkorn Memorial in Utanede, Sweden, the largest
Thai Pavilion in the world outside Thailand. The radio shack can be
rented by worldwide radio amateurs, and it is very popular because of its

SILENT KEY. David A. Whitaker, BRS 25429, informs OPDX that his
brother Mike, G3IGW, became a Silent Key on June 29, 2004, after a short
illness. Mike was very well known throughtout the world for his CW
transmissions, especially on the LF Bands. Besides being a member of the
RSGB for over 50 years, he was a highly respected member of the FOC for his
superb operating on the key. OPDX and its readers would like to send out
our deepest sympathy to Mike's family and friends.
SPECIAL EVENT. From
July 22nd to August 1st, look for the special callsign LX8LGS (Luxembourg
Guides and Scoutes) to be active from an International Scout Camp from
Lasauvage (South of Luxembourg). Activity will be on all bands and modes
(especially the Scout frequencies). Operators are Tobias/ DL4KBS,
Dan/LX1JU, Mike/LX1KQ, Gilles/LX3GR and Philippe/LX2AJ/LX7I. QSL via

celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Allied Forces landing in Provence,
August 1944. >From various locations on Provence landing Coast, the

Cavalaire on August 15-16th. Activity being part of
the

TM6ANV - Activity will take place during

ST2, SUDAN. QSL Manager
Dennis, PA7FM, informs OPDX that ST2DX has gone QRT on the afternoon of July
9th. Online logs, audio files and some photos are available on the

states, "The QSL design will go to the printer as soon as
possible now....and will try to answer all direct QSLs before the end of
August (off course depending on the card delivery from the printer)." He
also wants to remind those who still need the Sudan, ST2T is active
inbetween work from the same QTH, and in a few weeks LA5PN is expected in
Sudan (Who also works for the World Food Program of the UN). His callsign
is unknown yet. ST2T was heard on 15 meters over the past week and

SY2004, GREECE. Look for
Nikos, SV2WT, to be active as SY2004WT now through September 15th.
Activity will be on 160-10 meters, SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK and SSTV. QSL via
the Bureau. The SY2004 and SX2004 are two special prefixes that can be
used by Greek radio amateurs for the period before and during the Olympic

XU, CAMBODIA. Claude, XU7ABN, has been active over the past week
on 20/15 meters RTTY. Watch 20 meters between 1830-2230z and after
0600z. On 15 meters, watch after 1000z.
YJ0, VANUATU. Franz, DK1II
(ZL2III), will be active from Port Vila, Vanuatu (IOTA OC-035), from
August 6-15th. He plans work mainly on CW on 40-10 meters, depending on
propagations. Franz has applied for the callsign, YJ0II, but this is not
confirmed yet. Please QSL via DK1II.
ZP, PARAGUAY. Look for Tom, ZP5AZL,
to be active as ZP0R in this year's CQWW SSB DX Contest as a
Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via
