3V,TUNISIA (IOTA Op). Some
members of The Canary Islands DX Society have announced that they will be
active from Tunez on Djerba Island (AF-083) as 3V8SM (callsign of the
Tunisian Scout Radio Club in the Houmt Souk City). Activity will be on the
WARC bands and on SSB/PSK31/RTTY between July 26-29th. They will also be
active on SSB during the IOTA Contest July 30-31st. The team icludes:
Dunia/EC8ADU, Javi/EC4DX, Edu/EC8AUA and some Tunisian operators. QSL via the

5Z, KENYA. It has been announced
that Enrico, IV3SBE, will be returning to here and plans to be active as
5Z4ES. He will stay here through 2007. His activity will be during the

9A, CROATIA. Zik, VE3ZIK (aka
4N1DX and also one of the news adminintrators at www.contesting.info),
will be active from Bilice, on the Croatian coast, between May 7-17th. Look
for him on all HF bands, CW and SSB. Also, he will make a special effort on
10m FM (check 29610 kHz). QSL via DL3PS; the DARC Bureau is OK. Do not send
QSL cards via the VE3 Bureau because he said it is too complicated to reach

NEWS.............. The WAP (Worldwide Antarctic Program) is in
regular contact with Bhagwati, VU3BPZ, the Communication Officer
at the India's Maitri Base (WAP IND-03) in Antarctica. Actually,
a team of 8 people will be there at the base during their
winter. Bhagwati, VU3BPZ, is very active on HF bands,
particularly on 15/20 meters SSB. Check on 21250 or 14150 kHz at
any time. It was mentioned that if a DXer needs a particular
sked, they can send an E-mail to Bhagwati, VU3BPZ, and he will be

D2, ANGOLA. Janne, OH5NKD (OH3DD), active as D2DX, is expected
to be here 2007. This past week he has be very active on PSK especially
on 20/15 meters. His activity also includes 20/15/10 meters SSB. Watch for
his activity between 1100-1330z and again after 1700z.
DAYTON HAMVENTION
ANNOUNCEMENTS............. Jay, K4ZLE, provides the following
SWODXA press release: "The program has been set for the 20th
Annual SWODXA DX dinner held during the HamVention® at Dayton.
The program title is: "FT5XO - Not Your Regular DXpedition" and
it will be presented by Wes, W3WL, and other members of the
FT5XO operation. In addition, CQ Magazine's 2005 DX Hall of Fame
presentation is on the agenda. We plan to have our usual array of
door prizes, with two of them worth 1000.00 USDs or more! There
are a few seats available, and if you want to join us for the
evening's activities, tickets are on a first come, first served
basis. The dinner will be Friday evening, May 20th, at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel. Seats are 32.00 USD per meal, payable in
U.S. funds to SWODXA, and may be ordered from Jay Slough, K4ZLE,
at his CBA. SASE would be appreciated. Prior to ordering, it is

Announced by Doug Grant, K1DG: Two of the Dayton
Hamvention Forums will be changing location this year. The
Antenna Technology Forum, originally scheduled for Friday, May
20th, in Room 1 of the Hara Arena and the Contesting Forum,
originally scheduled for Saturday, May 21st, in Room 4 of the
Hara Arena, will now be held Saturday afternoon in the Van Cleve
Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Dayton. The
Antenna Technology Forum, chaired by Tim Duffy, K3LR, will be held
from 12 noon to 2:30 PM, and the Contesting Forum, chaired by
Doug Grant, K1DG, will begin at 2:30, running until 5:00
PM.
DX HOSPITALITY SUITE. Members of the North Jersey DX
Association invite DXers to visit one of the oldest, continously
run hospitality suites, on Friday and Saturday, May 20-21st, at
the Jimmy Doolittle Suite, 12th Floor, Crowne Plaza
(7pm-??).
DXCC EU POLL. Egidio, IZ8BRI, informs OPDX that European
stations are invited to visit the Dynamic DX CharterHouse Web page and
participate in the European DXCC Poll for the most wanted countries. Please

BALEARIC ISLANDS. Christain, DL6KAC, will once again visit Mallorca Island
(IOTA: EU-004 and DIE: E-021) between May 4-24th. Activity will be on 40-10
meters, mainly SSB, but a CW Key is available. Antennas will be dipoles using

UKRAINE (Special Event). Operators Igor/UR3GM and Andy/UR5GAR will activate
special event station EO60G from May 5-15th. Activity is to commemorate the

NOTE: A special "Victory-60 Award" is available by the Ukrainian Amateur
Radio League in honor of the 60th anniversary for making QSOs/SWLs with the
following memorial stations and veterans of the Second World War from the
different countries of the world during the period May 1-31st (2005). To earn
the award it is necessary to achieve the following:
1. For the CIS stations - 60 QSOs/SWLs (for UA0 30
QSOs/SWLs) 2. For Europeans - 40
QSOs/SWLs 3. For the rest of the world - 20
QSOs/SWLs All modes and bands are allowed. No duplicate contacts.
Applications (GCR list) should be sent not later than July 1st, 2005, to the

The award is free-of-charge. Applicants from the C.I.S. awards will be
sent centralized through branches of UARL and/or the national

HAM COM 2005. Tom Anderson, WW5L,
announced that the DX programs and DX Luncheon is now set for Ham Com 2005,
June 3-5th, in Arlington, TX, sponsored by the Lone Star DX Association. The
DX Luncheon speaker will be Charles Harpole, K4VUD, who is the spark that
made the VU4 operation possible. Come hear a fascinating story of DX and
emergency operations coming together. This year's DX programs will bring you
up-to-date on many things going on in the world of DX. After each day's

J3, GRENADA.
Harry/AC8G and others will be active as J3A during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest
(October 29-30th) as a Multi-(?) entry. QSL route is to be announced (TBA).
ADDED NOTES: Harry states, "Hurricane Ivan did only nominal damage to the
normal J3A operating site. However, due to temporary use of the site for
certain government offices, we may have limited space both interior and
outside for the antenna farm. Before and after the contest (and perhaps
during depending on circumstances) effort will be made to operate on various
modes and bands other than used in the contest. A full team has not yet been
assembled so anyone with interest should contact AC8G

To celebrate "Shikoku Information Telecommunication Month", look for special
event station 8N5SAIT between May 1st and July 31st. QSL via the JARL QSL
Bureau. Each letter in the callsign's suffix represents the old names of

EVENT. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, look

celebrate 40th anniversary of the Radio-club de Sevran (F5KKD) near Paris,

Gwen/ VK3DYL will be active this week from Port Vila and Aore Island
(IOTA OC-035) between May 2-19th. They will receive their callsigns upon
