Papers: The Changing Demographics
of US Society

The Institute for the Study of the Americas at University of London’s School of Advanced Study, and The Eccles Centre for American Studies
at the British Library invite papers for a multidisciplinary conference on ‘The
Changing Demographics of US Society’.
Proposals are welcome from all disciplinary
perspectives. Papers might address topics including, but not limited
to:
**regional population and economic changes and
their impact;
**the impact of changing demographics on
politics;
**new immigration shifts, and the impact of new
immigration;
**the greying of America;
**the enduring significance of race and
ethnicity;
**borderland populations, lives and
literatures.
A selection of the conference papers will be
included in a volume edited by Iwan Morgan and Philip Davies, published by The
Institute for the Study of the Americas Press (distributed by Brookings
Institution Press in the US).

Accommodation will be provided for one night for
UK- and Europe-based speakers, and four nights for trans-Atlantic-based
speakers, or a comparable contribution to defray conference costs.
