CLAG members, this is an excellent opportunity to place a tropically
focused geographer in a department dedicated to fieldwork in Middle America and
the Caribbean.

Geography. The Department of Geography invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-track faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing Fall
2003. The department
seeks to hire a Cultural Geographer/Cultural Ecologist/Latin
Americanist. We seek a person
who can interface between cultural and physical geography (Human/Environment
Tradition). The department has
strengths in Middle America and the Caribbean and is looking to develop future
strengths within coastal geography (physical and cultural) and tropical
geosciences. The candidate must
have foreign field experience within Latin America and willing to lead field
study programs to the region.
The candidate will be expected to
teach General Education, undergraduate (cultural and regional), Conservation of
Natural Resources, and graduate (including doctoral) courses, as well as sustain
research and grantsmanship in his or her specialization. The candidates will also be expected to
support the department’s strong programmatic emphasis in Geographic Information
Technology and be centrally involved in building upon departmental/university
strengths in physical/environmental geography.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. at
the time of appointment.
