David Watts
 
 I'm sorry to have to report the death of David Watts, Professor of Geography 
 and Dean, School of Geography and Earth Resources, at the University of Hull. 
 
 A long-time member of CLAG, David was founder of the Journal of Biogeography 
 and conducted extensive research in the Caribbean and elsewhere. His 
 publications include: Man's Influence on the Vegetation of Barbados, Principles

 of Biogeography and Development, Culture and Environmental Change in the West 
 Indies. He was also a Consultant for the "Seeds of Change" Program at the 
 Smithsonian Institution, Washington 
 D.C.
 
 We send our condolences to his family and many friends and colleagues in the UK

 and beyond.
