GEOGRAPHY
Main Objectives The
Department of Geography offers a BA Programme in geography / planning.
The programme aims at keeping the students in close contact with the
Qatari environment and society. The courses, therefore, have an applied
character that help the students contribute to building their knowledge
in the various branches of geography. They seek to provide the students
with the technical knowl- how of the discipline in order to keep up with
the pace of progress in the fields of science and
technology. The courses encourage the students to acquire the skills
pertinent to practising the profession of urban planning on the local or
regional levels and further deepen their grasp of quantitative analysis
with the purpose of contributing to the development strategies and
projects undertaken by the Qatari society.

The BA Programme is worth 130 credit hours; it has
three components:
