THE AMERICAN GRADUATE SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND DIPLOMACY
(AGSIRD)
The
American Graduate School of International Relations and Diplomacy (AGSIRD) is
the first graduate school of AUP with its Master of Arts degree in International
Relations and Diplomacy coming under an extension of AUP’s academic
accreditation by the Middle States Association and the State of
Delaware.
The
full-time M.A. program at AGSIRD consists of 12 semester courses and a thesis of
100 pages minimum taken over three academic semesters. Intermediate-level
knowledge of a language additional to English is also required for graduation.
Most AGSIRD classes are in the evening, allowing students with daytime jobs to
attend, some of them part-time.
AGSIRD was founded in 1994 and has over 50 students from 25 different
countries, about half of whom are currently completing course work and the rest
writing the required thesis or dissertation. Its international faculty is drawn
partly from AUP, from French educational institutions, and from organizations
such as OECD, UNESCO and local embassies.
AGSIRD benefits from student exchange arrangements with the DESS
diplomacy program of the University of Paris XI at Sceaux and the law faculty of
the university of Cergy-Pontoise. Students can attend an agreed number of
classes with full credit at their own university.
The
AGSIRD campus is located at 6 rue de Lubeck, in the 16th arrondissement,
about a 12-minute walk from the AUP campus.
