Assistant
Professor of History
The Department
of History at the University of Akron invites applications for a tenure-track
assistant professorship in the Latin American field with a starting date of
August 25, 2003. Ph.D. required by June 30, 2003. The appointee is expected to: 1) develop
an individual research program in the field of his/her expertise, 2) to teach a
range of courses in the history undergraduate and graduate (MA and Ph.D.)
programs and the World Civilizations: Latin America course in the General
Education Program, and 3) share service tasks associated with History Department
activities.
The History
Department has sixteen full-time faculty and offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and
Ph.D.degrees in history. A completed application must contain: 1) a cover
letter, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) copies of graduate transcripts, 4) three letters
of recommendation, and 5) evidence of teaching, research, and writing.
