Interest in environment started long ago in Ain Shams University. Departments in most faculties have long been concerned with the problems of pollution and the rationalization of the use of natural resources. It was thus necessary to establish an institute specialized in environmental studies. The institute was established according to the presidential decree in 1982 to be the first of its kind not only in Egypt, but in the Middle East as well. The inter-disciplined departments of the institute have their target as comprehensive environmental development.

3 - Environmental Humanities

4 - Environmental Culture and Education

5 - Environmental Administrative Development, Economics and Law

6 - Environmental Engineering7 - Environmental Agriculture

IV Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Sciences

Same majors as M .Sc. degree. [min. 2 years; courses & thesis]
